PH team shines at the 2024 IMWiC in Indonesia

In a remarkable display of mathematical prowess, the Philippine team has emerged as one of the dominant forces at the 2024 International Math Wizards Challenge held at Swiss Belcourt Hotel in Bogor, Indonesia on June 20 – 23, 2024.
The competition, which saw the onsite participation of Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines and 7 countries/territories (China, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Vietnam and Laos) participating remotely, witnessed the PH team securing an impressive haul of medals. The PH team’s success was nothing short of extraordinary, as they claimed 2 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals, along with an additional 7 merit awards.
“We are incredibly proud of our team’s performance at the International Math Wizards Challenge. These students have put in countless hours of study and practice, and their hard work has paid off in the most remarkable way. They have not only made their country proud but have also inspired the next generation of mathematical champions,” said the PH team leader, Dr. Archieval Rodriguez.
The competition, which attracted the brightest young minds from around the world, tested the participants’ problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
The PH team’s domination across various categories, including algebra, geometry, and number theory, showcased their well-rounded expertise and their ability to excel under pressure. “This victory is a testament to the strength of our education system and the dedication of our teachers and MTG trainers,” said the MTG president, Dr. Isidro Aguilar.

2023 International Mathematics Wizards Challenge (IMWIC): Celebrating Mathematical Brilliance and Global Collaboration!

 

 

In a remarkable display of mathematical prowess, the 2023 International
Mathematics Wizards Challenge (IMWIC) was successfully conducted ONSITE in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from June 23 to 26, 2023. The event witnessed the participation of four countries, namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Simultaneously, several other nations, including South Africa, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Macau, and India, joined the competition through the online platform.

The prestigious SJK-C La Salle school, a renowned government institution in Kuala Lumpur, served as the venue for this intellectually stimulating contest. The IMWIC 2023 showcased the exceptional mathematical skills of young minds, fostering healthy competition and camaraderie among the participants.

The event culminated in a grand awarding ceremony, where the top performers were recognized for their outstanding achievements. A total of 11 gold medals, 19 silver medals, 30 bronze medals, and 26 Merit Certificates were bestowed upon the deserving winners of the IMWIC 2023. These exceptional individuals demonstrated their exceptional problem-solving abilities and mathematical. acumen, leaving a lasting impression on the global mathematics community. Filipino students end up as biggest math winners in IMWIC June 20, 2019

Filipino students gave a stunning performance for bagging a whopping 268 medals and 51 other awards in the recently concluded 2019 International Mathematics Wizards Challenge held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 16 – 19, 2019.
The competition which attracted close to 500 contestants from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines had brought out the best version of our Filipino math wizards by winning 43 gold, 86 silver, 139 bronze medals and 51 merit awards.
Mr. Arvie Ubarro, MathDAP president said, “This is a great stimulus to other Philippine participants who are set to cross the skyways for other forthcoming math contests slated this year. The result will motivate them to produce a better performance.”
The impressive victory of the Philippine teams in IMWiC is attributed to their hard work for continuously thriving on the challenge of going home undefeated.

Filipinos reap medals in international math contest

Amassing a total of 240 medals and 87 merit awards, the Philippines topped in the International Mathematics Wizard Challenge 2016 held last July 20-23, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Filipino team composed of 350 elementary and secondary students from Grades 1- 10 won 34 gold, 74 silver, and 132 bronze medals while 82 were awarded merit awards in the said international math contest.

A total of 868 students from different countries joined the competition. Among the participating teams are Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Thailand and China (Guangzhou and Xiamen).

This year’s competition was held in two venues, in Hong Kong for the Chinese participants and in Bangkok, Thailand for Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Thailand and Philippine participants.
